When the inspection services carry out actions on goods, they must do so in certain facilities that must be approved as such and that are given the generic denomination of IFCM (Border Facilities for Goods Inspection).
The inspection facilities are given one or another denomination depending on the types of products inspected in them. Below we list the facilities available in the ports of Las Palmas:

Las Palmas Port:

  • BIP (Border Inspection Post): for inspecting products of animal origin both for human and non-human consumption.
  • ACA (Authorised Customs Area): for inspecting products of non-animal origin intended for human consumption.
  • DPI (Designated Point of Import): for inspecting products subject to special protection measures, basically nuts.
  • DPE (Designated Entry Point).

Arrecife Port:

  • BIP (Border Inspection Post): for inspecting products of animal origin for both human and non-human consumption. Pending authorization from the Food and Veterinary Office of the European Commission.
  • ACA (Authorised Customs Area): for inspecting products of non-animal origin intended for human consumption.
  • PBIP (Phytosanitary Border Inspection Post): products of non-animal origin for non-human consumption.

Port of Puerto del Rosario:

  • BIP (Border Inspection Post): for inspecting products of animal origin for both human and non-human consumption. Pending authorization from the Food and Veterinary Office of the European Commission.
  • ACA (Authorised Customs Area): for inspecting products of non-animal origin intended for human consumption.
  • PBIP (Phytosanitary Border Inspection Post): products of non-animal origin for non-human consumption for checks and inspections to stop the entry or spread of elements harmful to vegetable and animal products.
